A relaxed girly weekend on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors

Full board so you don’t have to think about logistics – delicious food magically appears although you may be asked to help prepare it!

This weekend has established inself as one of the jewels in the belly dance calendar.
Bijoux, cosy, a safe space to explore your dance with Kay and Anne, socialise with a great group of women, eat Brenda’s delicious food, soak in the hot tub and chill out.

Full board – Brenda’s gorgeous veggie meals would make any meat-eater jealous!
The majority of the meals on the weekend are vegetarian.

3 Dance classes – with Anne Kingston and Kay Taylor – these 2 very experienced teachers will ensure that whatever your level, you will take lots away from this intimate weekend. Kay and Anne co-teach the weekend and run all the sessions jointly, each bringing a different perspective.
2 x 2hr dance classes on the Saturday
1 x 3hr dance class on the Sunday

Cookery demonstrations from food guru (and Kay’s mam!) Brenda Taylor

Use of hot tub at Ponden

If you can arrive by 3.30pm on Friday, for those who fancy it we plan a walk across the Yorkshire moors to ‘Wuthering Heights’ country before a hot tub and dinner

Accommodation is at 2 Farmhouses, Ponden House and Whitestones, they are about a 10 minute walk across the fields from each other.  You have breakfast wherever you are staying.
We have lunch and dance classes at Whitestones and our cookery demo and evening meals will be at Ponden House.  Neither venue is licensed (or near shops!!!) so if you want alcohol, bring your own.

All accommodation is in shared rooms – for availability see below
Twin ensuite and twin shared rooms available at Whitestones Farm
Rooms at Ponden are now all taken

‘I had the most fab time at Ponden, everyone was lovely and so friendly.  Brenda is an amazing host and both the cookery demo and the food all weekend were fab.  To sum up I had a great weekend, was really good having a small group, feedback, correction very helpful. I would love to come back next year – the only thing that needs changing is for you to add an extra day between Saturday and Sunday please and then tell all our employers!’  Celia

‘An excellent, immersive experience that really helped to nurture my own dance development.  I’d love to do this a couple of times a year if it were at all possible, excellent tuition in a small group setting, fresh country air and fabulous healthy food…I’m smitten to this!’  Arlene

‘I thought the weekend was balanced perfectly. Kay and Anne running the classes together was great – I especially like the way you gave individual attention to everyone so we all had something to take away personally.’  Vanessa

‘The balance between the dancing and the relaxation was just right. Brenda’s food was delicious and I have already tried two of her recipes. The scenery at Ponden is exceptional and the hot tub, which I was looking forward to, did not disappoint. I would definitely go again.’  Christine

Kay Taylor

Does she need an introduction?  Kay is the organiser and force behind Farida Dance and the residential weekends.

A qualified JWAAD teacher and director of JWAAD Teacher Training courses, Kay believes in giving students a thorough grounding in Egyptian Dance while also making classes fun and accessible for the wide range of women attracted to this great dance form.

Kay travels regularly to Egypt and has links with most of the top dancers and choreographers there.  Kay is in great demand throughout the country and has taught at many events nationally and internationally… this time she is teaching at her own event!

Anne Kingston

Another firm favourite and great friend of ours, Anne Kingston has a wealth of experience of teaching and performing and is a joy to watch.  As well as her love of Egyptian Dance, Anne is very knowledgeable on other types of African Dance and also likes to incorporate a more spiritual side of things.  Anne also organises Desert Dance Healing trips, where you can relax and recharge with dance, drumming and fun.

Kay and Anne combine forces, co-teaching this weekend.  Whatever they are doing, it seems to work …. and people keep coming back.  These weekends are based on dance movement …. the stuff before technique that informs how you dance.
