Ghawazi-Sombati – Nile Delta Ghawazi Dance
When the Zaghariet (traditional wedding calls) sound, the Ghawazi perform – they dance, spread joy, and bring the celebration to life. Lively, fresh, and cheerful – this dance is full of energy and surprises!
The Nile Delta Ghawazi did not change their dance through ballet, modern, or Latin influences. Their repertoire developed from life experiences along the Nile, featuring small, simple, yet impressive step combinations, which we will practice together in this workshop.
The Sombati Ghawazi are clearly different from their Upper Egypt relatives. You will learn not only the history but also the typical movements of the Nile Delta style and create a short choreography.
